For individuals who want to study in Canada but need financial aid, we’ve prepared a list of scholarships for international students sponsored by the Canadian government, several Canadian universities, and other organizations in Canada.

How do international students get Canadian scholarships?
International students who enroll in undergraduate, master’s, doctorate, post-doctoral, or certificate programs can apply for Canadian scholarships.
The Canadian government offers scholarships for international students in basically all academic disciplines.
As a result, students from diverse backgrounds are eligible for this Canada Government scholarship for overseas students.
Thankfully, Canadian institutions offer a variety of scholarships, the most prestigious of which can pay a student’s tuition for up to four years.
Is it easy to get a scholarship in Canada?
The type, eligibility, and quantity of grants of the scholarship determine whether it is an easy or tough application.
Now, on to the scholarships.
University of Calgary International Scholarship
The University of Calgary International Entry Scholarship is a distinguished prize that acknowledges great achievements by international students as they begin their undergraduate studies at the University.
Academic ability as well as extracurricular achievements are required for the Scholarship.
The $15,000 scholarship is renewable each year in the second, third, and fourth years of study at the University of Calgary if winners maintain a 2.60 GPA over a minimum of 24 units.
International students who desire to apply for this scholarship may choose any topic from the University of Calgary’s Bachelor’s degree program.
Requirements for this scholarship include:
- International students must be enrolled full-time in a fall semester undergraduate degree program.
- Must be a first-year student.
- A minimum GPA of 3.20 is required to be considered for a scholarship.
- The university’s English Language Proficiency standards must also be met.
University of Winnipeg’s President’s Scholarship for World Leaders
The University of Winnipeg’s President’s Scholarship for World Leaders is awarded to international students who are enrolling for the first time in any of the university’s divisions.
This scholarship is for students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at Winnipeg University. Candidates must participate in activities that demonstrate leadership.
The President’s Scholarship for World Leaders is worth between $3,000 and $5,000.
University of British Columbia (UBC) International Major Entry Scholarships
International Major Entry Scholarships (IMES) are given to outstanding international students entering UBC’s undergraduate programs.
Students get their IMES when they begin their first year at UBC, and the scholarships are renewable for up to three years.
Every year, the number of these scholarships offered change due to available resources.
Eligibility
To be considered for the IMES, the following criteria should be met:
- Be a first-year student at UBC, having graduated from secondary school.
- Be an international student studying at UBC with a Canadian student visa. (Changes in your citizenship status will impact your eligibility for IMES.)
- Excellent academic achievement and intellectual promise, as well as extracurricular and community activity, are required.
University of Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships
The University of Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships offers a unique opportunity for excellent overseas students to study at one of the world’s greatest institutions in one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities.
The scholarship program is designed to celebrate students who have demonstrated great academic success and innovation, as well as who are recognized as school leaders.
A strong focus is put on the student’s effect on the lives of their school and community, as well as their future potential to positively contribute to the global community.
For four years, the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships will cover tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residential assistance.
The grant is exclusively available for first-year undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto.
The following criteria should be met by interested students:
- A non-Canadian or international student who requires a study permit.
- You must be in your senior year of high school or have graduated by June of that year.
- You must begin your studies at the University of Toronto in September of the upcoming academic year.
Algoma University Scholarships
International students eligible for university scholarships must have a temporary residence visa as a member of the student class on the first day of classes under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act of Canada.
Any students who are required to pay the international difference fee, including college diploma graduates, university transfers, college transfer students, and second-degree students, are eligible for the Entrance Scholarship.
Under no circumstances will international scholarships be postponed.
Students must accept the terms and conditions of admission and scholarships for the year in which the offer was made.
Western University Scholarship for International Students
International students from all around the world are encouraged to apply for these fully-funded scholarships at Western University, which is located in London, Ontario, Canada.
Western University is giving fully-funded scholarships for Master’s and Ph.D. programs to exceptional candidates from all around the world.
Several scholarship programs are offered at Western University in Ontario, Canada, to encourage bright students not just from Canada but from all over the world.
If you wish to pursue graduate courses in science and technology on a full scholarship, you should apply to Western University.
Several advantages are provided by the institution and the Canadian government, including assistance for jobless students, insurance, child support, and other perks.
York University International Student Scholarship Program
International students enrolled at York University with an exceptional academic record are eligible for four-year degree scholarships.
Students can apply for Global Leaders of Future Scholarships as well as International Entry Scholarships of Merit.
International students can apply for two Global Leaders of Future Awards and two International Entry Scholarships of Merit at York University in Ontario, Canada.
These scholarships are renewable for up to three years of full-time undergraduate study.
To be considered for the major international scholarship, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- You must be an international student in Canada with a study permit.
- You must have submitted your application to one of York University’s undergraduate degree programs.
- Being a York-approved student who applied directly after graduating from high school, within two years after graduation, and with no prior university or college courses.
- Keep a strong academic record with an “A” or equivalent grade point average.
- Showcase your skill to lead.
- A letter of recommendation.

The University of Victoria International Entrance Scholarships
Academically outstanding international undergraduate students are awarded entrance scholarships to the University of Victoria.
The actual amount of scholarships is determined by available funding each year.
These scholarships and awards are intended for overseas undergraduate students who are not pursuing a secondary school certificate in Canada.
Eligibility
Before being eligible for an admission scholarship, international students must be admitted to the University of Victoria.
Undergraduate Admissions immediately refers eligible candidates to Student Awards & Financial Assistance.
To be considered for an International Scholarship, international students must submit an interim transcript (if a current secondary school student) or a final transcript (if a student has graduated within two years of application and has not attended another post-secondary institution) to Undergraduate Admissions by March 15.
Undergraduate Admissions immediately refers eligible candidates to Student Awards & Financial Assistance.
University of Waterloo International Student Entrance Scholarship
Twenty $10,000 scholarships are granted each year to excellent international students admitted to Year One of an undergraduate degree program.
International students admitted with a 90% or above entrance average will be considered.
Academic accomplishment along with any additional Faculty-specific admission scholarship requirements will be used to determine selection. There is no need to apply.
